Elbow Tendinitis

There can be many causes of Elbow pain, which Chinese Medicine can help with. One common illness is Elbow Tendinitis, and with in that two problems are known as colloquially as "Tennis elbow" and "Golfer's Elbow"

Tennis Elbow stems from damage to the tendons on the outside of the elbow, while Golfer’s Elbow is caused by tendon on the inside.

Tennis Elbow


Tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis, is a painful condition of the elbow caused by overuse.

Tennis elbow is an inflammation or, in some cases, micro tearing of the tendons that join the forearm muscles on the outside of the elbow. The forearm muscles and tendons become damaged from overuse repeating the same motions again and again. This leads to pain and tenderness on the outside of the elbow.

Chinese Medicine theory considers a part of tennis elbow is caused by liver Qi stagnation and internal deficiency and stagnation of Qi and blood. The way acupuncture for tennis elbow works is by stimulating specific acupuncture points to restore the natural flow of Qi and blood. Chinese Herbal Medicine is used externally and internally to also restore the correct free flow circulation of Qi energy, Blood and Fluids, and in the case of acute injury to resolve stagnant blood, fluids and Qi from the injury site while promoting fresh nutrient rich blood, fluids and Qi.

Golfer's Elbow


Golfer’s Elbow is inflammation of the tendon attachments of the muscles that bend the wrist to the medial epicondyle of the humerus, called also as medial epicondylitis.

The painful area on the bony bump on the inside of the elbow, the epicondyle, may radiate into the forearm and to the wrist. That condition isn’t as well known as a Tennis Elbow. both are forms of elbow tendinitis.

As with Tennis Elbow, treating the Golfer’s Elbow is necessary, otherwise dysfunction may result in permanent damage or even disability.
