conditions - Digestion Issues

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) considers he health of the digestive system is considered the cornerstone of well being and good health.

According Chinese Medicine, consumed food is initially processed by the stomach system, where it’s 'ripened' or broken down into its useful (‘pure’) and waste (‘impure’) components.

The useful parts are directed upwards to the spleen system, where they're transformed into the nutrients, energy (Qi), blood and fluids which the body needs. Meanwhile, the wastes are directed downwards to the small intestine and ultimately the large intestine for excretion.

The final part of the digestive process, involves the small intestine system continuing the breakdown of food that was initiated in the stomach system, and directs any useful matter to the spleen for transformation and distribution through the body, and the wastes to the large intestine for excretion. If spleen and stomach systems aren’t in balance, one may experience bowel issues such as diarrhea, abdominal bloating, and flatulence, for example.

Too much heat in your system can also cause health problems and in this case you may experience such symptoms as constipation or dry stools (due to the intestinal fluids being dried up by the Heat). The liver also contributes to healthy digestion system by helping in the breakdown of fats and dietary toxins.
